The Buzz About Fenty Beauty: Rihanna’s Newly Launched Make-up Line

Rihanna’s style can be defined as edgy and feminine, which also perfectly embodies her newly launched make up line, Fenty Beauty.

Launched on September 8, 2017 in over 170 countries and 1,600 stores around the world, Fenty Beauty is the much-anticipated and buzzed-about beauty line by the living legend.

If you’re wondering why the line is called Fenty Beauty, you’ll only need to look at the Bajan beauty’s full name, which happens to be Robyn Rihanna Fenty, which tells you the make-up line has her name written all over it.

The line is in collaboration with the Kendo Division of LVMH, which also created Marc Jacobs Beauty and Kat Von D Cosmetics.  The deal is reportedly a whopping $10 million, and buzz about the line began in 2016, where Rihanna herself posted teasers about it through her Instagram account.

The first time the public caught a glimpse of the line was at the 2016 Spring/Summer Fenty x Puma by Rihanna show, where a holographic lip product was presented backstage.  Since then, teasers of the products have popped up here and there, through Sephora and Harvey Nichols, where Fenty Beauty can be bought today.

Rihanna was said to be inspired to create this line of make-up products after using the best of the best in the market yet still seeing a void in terms of a product line specifically made for a complete range of different skin types and colors.  And thus, Fenty Beauty starts out with a complete range of foundation products consisting of 40 shades, all meant for a diverse range of skin colors.

One of the main goals of the line is to offer light-as-air formulas that are easy to layer.  According to Rihanna, the secret to radiance lies in foundation, which is the very first step in the process of creating the Fenty Face.

While this is the singer and all-around artist’s first full make-up line, it isn’t the first time she dabbled with cosmetics.  In 2013, she collaborated with MAC Cosmetics to create the RiRi Woo, a shade of lipstick inspired by the brand’s red Ruby Woo.

Sephora states that Rihanna was intimately involved in every step of the development process of the products, as well as the packaging, shade development, and formula behind the brand.  During the opening of Fenty Beauty’s store in London via Harvey Nichols on September 20, Rihanna herself even applied some of the products on her fans’ faces.  Her dedication to promote her line shows her passion and commitment in bringing authentic products with her signature stamp in each one.

Aside from the 40 shades of foundation, the line also offers 6 eye-catching highlighter shades, shimmer sticks, and brushes in various shapes and sizes.

Although Fenty Beauty has only been recently launched, products are flying off the shelves not just because it comes from the mogul herself, but also due to its diversity as well as being cruelty-free.  The price for a blending sponge can start at $16 to $54 for a shimmer stick.
