New Survey on World’s Most Popular Luxury Hotel Brands for 2015 Released

ReviewPro, a guest intelligence solutions company, recently released a new survey of the Top Luxury Hotel & Brand Report. For its second year, this thorough research shows the best luxury top brands in three tiers based on Global Review Index (GRI) which is mainly based on guest reviews from 161 online travel agencies and review sites in 45 languages.

The 2015 Top Luxury Hotel and Brand Report categorized luxury hotel brands into three sections, namely: Individual Luxury Hotels; Small Luxury Brands and Large Luxury Brands.

A thorough analysis of the survey results from almost two million online guest reviews published during 2014, based on a total of 2,330 properties that relate to luxury brands worldwide.

In terms of overall guest online satisfaction, said survey revealed that Olare Mara Kempinski, Masai Mara won as the best performing Individual Luxury Hotel while the Library Hotel Collection topped the best performing for Small Luxury Brand. Belmond Hotels on the other hand, won the best performing in Large Luxury Brand category.

Another interesting aspect of the research is that the average GRI of the Top 25 Small Luxury Brands (92.2%) was 4% higher than the GRI for the Top 25 Large Luxury Brands (89.1%). This shows that guests are seemingly more satisfied with the service from small luxury brands than the large luxury brands.

The survey also showed that there was a surge of 36% in the luxury hotel segment, based on the total of online review from the previous period.

In terms of the source of online guest reviews, TripAdvisor still ranked at the top post as the largest online reviews source for luxury hotels, generating 28% of total reviews. Facebook was surprisingly overthrown by Booking.com, which landed the second spot next to TripAdvisor.

For travel destinations, China (14%), United States (9%) and United Kingdom (8%) received the largest number of Top 100-rated luxury properties. For the city category, Dubai dethroned London from being the most reviewed city of the year.

Under the three sections of luxury brands of The 2015 Top Luxury Hotel and Brand Report, each section is further categorized into these areas: Top 25 by Brands; Top 25 by Service; Top 25 by Value; Top 25 by Location; Top 25 by Cleanliness and Top 10 Most Improved brands.
