3 Asian Airlines Cracks List of World’s Safest Airlines for 2021

In the field of air transportation, safety is always paramount. With hundreds of airlines around the world, knowing which ones rank as the safest allow passengers to choose the best companies that give them peace of mind and confidence to fly the skies.

In a recent list released by AirlineRatings.com, three Asian airlines made it to the top 10 list of the safest airlines in the world. The website considered several factors to determine their list, which included crash and serious incident histories, safety compliance, fleet ages, and audits performed by governments and aviation associations.

Out of 385 airlines, Qantas leads the world’s safest airlines. As Australia’s flag carrier, Qantas has been named by AirlineRatings.com as the world’s safest airline for three consecutive years.

This list also includes “The Middle East Three,” of Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, and Emirates. Only one airline from the US, Alaskan Airlines, made it to list.

In the Asian front, Cathay Pacific, EVA Air, and Singapore Airlines made it to the list, while other airlines from other regions include British Airways and Air New Zealand.

Singapore Airlines ranks at 4th place, gaining the highest ranking of all Asian airlines. Singapore’s flag carrier is known for their zero-compromise on safety, as well as flying one of the youngest aircraft fleets in the world. They are also one of only 9 airlines awarded with a 5-star rating by Skytrax, given to some of the world’s best airlines.

EVA Air, on the other hand, ranks 6th on the list. Short for Evergreen Airways, EVA Air is Taiwan’s flagship carrier and based in Taipei, Taiwan. It is also one of only 9 airlines in the world given the 5-star rating by Skytrax. They are known for their diligent care and operation of their aircraft fleet, which earned them an Air Agency Certification form the US Federal Aviation Administration for their state-of-the-art Airfact Maintenance Center in Taiwan.

And lastly, Cathay Pacific, HongKongs’s flag carrier, ranks 9th place on the said list. Cathay Pacific is also the 5th largest airline in the world and believes in the importance of focusing on safety procedures, The airline considers safety as their number one priority, and are fully committed to providing a safe operational and working environment for passengers and staff.

Meanwhile, the same three airlines including several more Asian ones are also included in the website’s list for the safest airlines for COVID.

Those carriers are All Nippon Airways, AirAsia, Korean Air and Japan Airlines. Other airlines from around the world that also made it to the list include Lufthansa, Southwest Airlines, AirBaltic, Alaska Airlines, British Airways, Air New Zealand, Emirates, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Etihad Airways, KLM, Qatar Airways and WestJet.

These airlines were awarded a compliance “star” for meeting the criteria for COVID safety during this pandemic. The criteria’s checklist included nightly deep cleaning of aircraft, PPE for cabin crew, changes to meal services, provision of passenger face mask, social distancing while boarding and during the flight, as well as COVID-19 information on the airline’s websites.
